About the Role

The Enterprise Digital Technologies team at Voya Financial seeks a Full Stack Java Developer to design and build innovative websites, platforms, and applications. This role involves mentoring Java developers, implementing best coding practices, conducting code reviews, architecting solutions, and developing new features within a fast-paced and collaborative environment. The developer will focus on leveraging Java, JavaScript frameworks (Angular, React), microservices, and cloud technologies to support evolving business capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Establish coding standards and best practices for new software development.
  • Assist in the architecture and design of software applications.
  • Develop, test, debug, and document software components following architectural guidelines.
  • Collaborate with design, engineering, and product teams to create superior customer experiences.
  • Support frontend, business logic, and backend development teams.
  • Contribute to component and pattern library improvements, including reviewing pull requests and publishing releases.
  • Mentor junior frontend developers to elevate team capabilities.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of full stack Java development experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in microservices architecture and development.
  • Proficient in frontend technologies such as Angular 2+, React, Polymer, HTML, and CSS.
  • Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices frameworks.
  • Familiarity with app monitoring, performance engineering, distributed caching, and cloud environments.
  • Experience developing responsive, mobile-friendly web applications.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and automated testing practices.
  • Strong understanding of dependency management and package managers.
  • Experience building component libraries or design systems for scalable reuse.
  • Understanding of cross-browser compatibility challenges and solutions.
  • Familiarity with frontend build tools such as Grunt and Gulp.js.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to lead and influence teams.
  • Agile/Scrum development methodology experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) or similar cloud platforms.
  • Background in financial services industry.
  • Hybrid mobile development experience.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual base salary range: $110,000 – $150,000.
