About the Role
The Engineer II, Java position is based in Broomfield, CO, with a hybrid schedule (remote on Mondays and Fridays, in-office Tuesday–Thursday). This role focuses on building and maintaining scalable backend systems for ad serving and buying platforms, contributing to a globally distributed system that processes tens of millions of daily requests.
Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and manage the lifecycle of scalable advertising servers and platforms.
- Independently lead complex projects, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
- Translate business needs into technical designs and detailed project plans.
- Ensure the operational stability, scalability, and performance of large distributed systems.
- Develop optimized, production-ready code with comprehensive performance testing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Proactively troubleshoot and resolve critical issues in real time.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Java for backend development, with knowledge of asynchronous programming.
- Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and trade-offs between technical solutions.
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), including SQL and table design.
- Familiarity with Agile practices and CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins, Jira).
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Ad Tech, ideally in header bidding technologies.
- Exposure to large-scale ad serving or similar high-performance systems.
